Welcome to SCVO’s Equalities web.

Building Bridges – Across the Equality Spectrum

building bridges logoOppressive attitudes, practices and ideologies, which are expressed in individual, institutional and structural discrimination, remain prevalent in society. The voluntary sector has been and is responsible for major advances in policy and practice in achieving a culture shift and in tackling discrimination.

SCVO is committed to ensuring that that the voluntary sector has the skills and capacity necessary to meet the challenges of advancing equality of opportunity. SCVO has developed an extensive programme of work on equalities issues within the voluntary sector. SCVO is further committed to taking the voluntary sectors message and experience on promoting equality to government, the public and private sectors and the public at large.

A significant part of this is the current SCVO programme ‘Building Bridges Across the Voluntary Sector’. This brings together a wide range of projects delivering information, policy development, research, training, development and events. All our activities aim to be fully accessible to all. We look forward to working with you.
