Abstract The overall aim of this study was to identify best funding practice and key gaps in the funding of voluntary sector equalities organisations in Scotland. Fieldwork was carried out in early 2008.

The research methods, which comprised of a desk study, a mapping survey, telephone interviews, two seminars and a focus group, were designed to acquire the views of representatives of both the equality voluntary organisations and funders. The study draws a number of conclusions which will be of interest to a broad range of stakeholders and presents a number of recommendations for the Equality and Human Rights Commission in Scotland to consider.
