Mission

To support people to take voluntary action to help themselves and others, and to bring about social change

Objectives

SCVO will:

• connect people with ways to get involved with their communities – through volunteering, working, training, giving, and trusteeship
• ensure all people forming, changing and developing voluntary organisations can access quality advice and support – through direct provision and by facilitating the development of a better sector infrastructure system
• increase the voluntary sector’s contribution to public services and wider public benefit – through influencing policy, practical support and brokering collaboration

Activities

To achieve these objectives SCVO will:

• Amplify the voice of voluntary organisations and support them to campaign and advocate on behalf of those they serve
• Communicate with, about and on behalf of the voluntary sector, promoting it and encouraging people to get involved
• Develop and share knowledge about the voluntary sector and voluntary action
• Develop networking and collaboration between voluntary organisations and all those who form, join and support them
• Provide organisational development and capacity building support for voluntary organisations and those who form and join them
• Develop resources for the voluntary sector
• Develop the voluntary sector’s voluntary and paid workforce
• Design and deliver services tailored to the needs of voluntary organisations and those who form and join them
• Develop SCVO’s own effectiveness
