An intensive fundraisers workout designed to tone and shape you into an effective fundraising machine in no time at all!

Running over two consecutive days this course incorporates content from both the Introduction to effective fundraising and Beyond the basics: developing your fundraising skills courses.

Objectives

During this two day course you will have the opportunity to learn new skills, match fundraising theory to practical action and build upon your existing fundraising skills.  Pam Judson will paint a picture of where funding for different causes comes from, how to start from a position of strength and what makes a persuasive case for support by understanding donor and funder motivation. You will examine what a sustainable strategy looks like, become familiar with a range of tools to create a strategy and have a template to design a practical plan.

Content

How does fundraising work … and why do donors give? You will discuss these questions, whilst examining the Pyramid, the Onion and the Seven Steps fundraising models.

How much money is out there, who has it, who gets it and how much does it cost to raise? Pam will guide you through an overview of Scottish fundraising, the landscape we live in and up-coming trends.

Does your organisation have what it takes? Discover the key organisational steps to becoming ‘fundraising ready’.

Knowing who are you and how you fit in is vital to success – you will examine your cause, your impact and internal and external factors.

First things first: your case for support!  Pam will guide you through putting this together and show you how to modify it for a range of supporters: individuals, trusts and foundations, companies and events.

Strategy 101 for 2016 and beyond… You will discuss sustainability and review the various tools to get there and how to put the plan together.

Avoid the Daily Mail front page – understanding ethical and legal codes of practice is a vital factor when fundraising, so you will explore these and stewardship/donor relations.

Who is the course aimed at?

This two day participatory course is for staff, volunteers and Trustees working in the third and social enterprise sector who want to increase their knowledge and understanding of how to get resources and support for their organisation.

Entry requirements
