This strand of Community Jobs Scotland aims to support young people aged 20-24. who face additional barriers to work, into sustainable employment.

We aim to create 300 jobs within a wide range of third sector organisations throughout Scotland.

Additional barriers to work can mean a range of things, including:

  • being a lone parent
  • literacy and/or numeracy difficulties
  • living in a rural area

Jobcentre Plus or Skills Development Scotland advisers will assess eligibility.

The jobs must:

  • be within the third sector
  • be additional
  • offer community benefit
  • pay at least minimum wage
  • offer a minimum of 25 hours of paid work each week
  • last at least 26 weeks

The young person becomes an employee of the employing organisation and is covered by the same policies and procedures as any other staff member.

The maximum funding available for each of these jobs  is £5,000 to cover the costs of the wage and employers NI.
