SCVO offers a range of events, from conferences and exhibitions to our glittering awards celebration, the Scottish Charity Awards. Here are some of the highlights.
The Gathering – Scotland’s voluntary sector fair
The Gathering is the largest free event of its kind in the UK, with around 3000 visitors attending the event from across Scotland and the UK.
The event incorporates over 100 exhibitors from voluntary organisations, government agencies, parliament and media to companies who work alongside the sector such Santander Bank, Royal Bank of Scotland, insurance companies and discounted service suppliers.
The Gathering programme of events sees some 60 conferences, events and seminars taking place, there is also launches of products and services, entertainment and vast networking opportunities. The Gathering is the key event of the year in the voluntary sector calendar.
The Scottish Charity Awards
The awards, now in their fifth year, uniquely honour excellence across the whole voluntary sector in Scotland.
The evening provides a great opportunity to celebrate and reward the successes of the voluntary sector, and it is also a prominent networking event in the sector calendar.

CIVICUS World Assembly
After successfully winning the bid to host this prestigious international event, the World Assembly ran alongside The Gathering for a 3 year period. The World Assembly saw around 1000 NGO leaders from 110 countries come together under the theme of “acting together for a just world”.
The Assembly programme included interactive plenaries, live broadcasting, workshops and sessions led by key figures such as the Director of BBC World Service Trust and representatives from the World Bank and United Nations, it also incorporated learning exchanges with Scottish based organisations, an International exhibition, fringe events, social activities such as dine-arounds, tours, performances and a gala dinner.
Conferences
SCVO has managed a strong programme of successful conferences throughout Scotland over the years. Our conferences attract high calibre speakers and contributors as well as good media coverage and are well attended.
We have ran conferences on a wide spectrum of topics such as public service reform, research, engaging with the media, employment to law and legal matters.
Other events we have successfully managed range from the prestigious Scottish charity awards now in their 5th year, which attracts sponsorship from The Co-operative Bank and The Peoples Postcode Lottery, to annual general meetings, Parliamentary briefings and receptions, consultation seminars and evening lecture series to name but a few.
