The Third Sector in Inverness-shire: a profile

This report has been produced as a result of a summer-long database update project, as a way of profiling the sector and reviewing the processes involved in that project. The report identifies key statistics in relation to the third sector in Inverness-shire, including the scale of the sector, the numbers and categories of different types of groups that are in operation, the geographical reach of organisations, financial information regarding funding streams and income, as well as employment and volunteering statistics. The report has been written for a variety of audiences and stakeholders. The statistical part is aimed more generally at anyone involved with the third sector (community, charitable and voluntary) locally, as well as the wide variety of stakeholders involved in the sector. The review part of the report is aimed both for Council for Voluntary Services Inverness (CVSI) and those whom it works alongside as a way of sharing the experience of the work that has been undertaken. Although the project has been successful in receiving responses from a large number of groups, there are still many yet to respond to the data request, and there are also a large number of groups and organisations that CVSI are not yet in touch with. It must therefore be noted that the statistics noted in this report only touch the surface in terms of the scale and size of the sector, proving that the importance of the sector cannot be underestimated.
