SCVO's Management Board undertook its annual strategic review of SCVO's activities in April 2007. The Board:

• Believes the Third Sector is the fabric of Scotland’s society and the means to civic action, mutual support and change for the better

• Welcomes a new start with Scottish government and local government

• Calls on our colleagues in the Third Sector to work together to maximise the new opportunities

• Expects our own organisation to be rigorous, robust and focussed

SCVO has identified three strategic themes which should influence all our work. This ‘mainstreaming’ approach has been adopted to:

• Promote equality
• Be aware of the distinctive needs of rural communities
• Take a sustainable development approach

While we wish to ensure these themes are considered in relation to all our work, we also undertake specific, related, programmatic work with the voluntary sector. See, for example, Equalities programme.
