The theme of the day is 'Working Together'. Speakers from both sectors will look at ways to encourage greater collaboration. SCVO responds to a consultation on various regulations, guidance and impact assessment governing the Protection of Vulnerable Groups vetting and barring scheme, which is due to begin at the end of 2010. The new scheme must be seen as only one part of an organisation's safeguarding and recruitment good practice. Because of its huge impact on the sector, the Government needs to get the balance right. We remained concerned about costs and complexity.
