Networking between voluntary organisations is part of the core business of SCVO. By bringing together people throughout the sector to discuss, develop, communicate and collaborate on shared issues, SCVO facilitates the strengthening and impact of the voluntary sector in Scotland.

The Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations (SCVO) seeks to advance the values and interests shared by voluntary organisations by fostering co-operation, promoting best practice and through the delivery of sustainable common services.

Scotland's voluntary sector is made up of 119,000 dedicated paid staff and 1.2 million adult volunteers. Collectively these people work every day to further the aims and objectives of 50,000 voluntary organisations which support and care for communities and disadvantaged groups throughout the nation.

This section of our website seeks to provide on-line networking and communication resources to enable people networks within the sector to co-operate and collaborate more effectively and therefore maximise impact.

Better Public Services Forum
The remit of the Better Public Services Forum is “to identify and report to SCVO’s Policy Committee on the changes in public policy and practice needed to create resource efficient and person centred public services for Scotland utilising the capacities of all sections of the Scottish community.”

Building Bridges Network
This network site has been set up in order to support the learning of the participants of the Building Bridges Organisational Development Programme 2007. It has a number of functions, firstly it will enable the tutors to distribute training material both prior to and after each of the modules. Secondly it will allow participants to review the module sessions and suggest areas they would like to see covered.The discussion boards will give participants the opportunity to discuss the training and any issues they feel impacting implementation, and finally we hope it will encourage participants to network and share good practice.

E-Learning Network
The e-learning network is a series of informal networks allowing participants of particular courses, events and on-line courses to continue their discussions and their learning.

Policy Officers Network
The Third Sector Policy Officer Network (PON) is an informal network of over 130 voluntary sector workers across Scotland whose work includes policy. Some are full time policy or parliamentary officers, others include policy in a broader work remit. The main functions of the network are information exchange and peer support. We meet every other month, alternately in Glasgow and Edinburgh, hold occasional training days, seminars or conferences, and keep in touch between times by email. Visiting speakers on voluntary sector engagement issues include MSPs, parliament staff, civil servants, voluntary sector policy workers and others.

SCVO Membership
A networking website for the members of the Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations (SCVO) to assist them in keeping informed about the work of the organisation and contribute to the policy and operations of SCVO.
