Paul White Paul White - Director of Networks (Management Group Chair)
Paul White joined SCVO as Director of Networks in May 2004 and has responsibility for developing the national network of Councils for Voluntary Service (CVS), as well as promoting collaborative work between other voluntary sector networks. He also has responsibility for SCVO's business relations, information, membership and training functions. Paul's activity in these areas is underpinned by a commitment to exploring partnership opportunities which best meet the needs of voluntary organisations and communities across Scotland.

Janine has been working as the Corporate Policy Manager with COSLA for the last 15 months, a position drawing on her many years of Local Government experience in Australia. Prior to this, she spent her first 5 years in Scotland working in various voluntary sector organisations, including Project Scotland and the LGBT Healthy Living Centre, primarily in project set up and management. Janine has Masters qualifications in social policy and social planning, with a specific interest in community development and community education.

Originally from the US, I lived in England for 11 years, and in Scotland for 8 years. I have 19 years experience working the UK voluntary sector. I worked for ten years in International Development, working in Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, Peru and Bangladesh. I worked for the (now defunct) Community and Voluntary Organisations Council (CAVOC) in Motherwell, where I was Coordinator 2002-2003. I worked for three years as Grants Director for the Scottish Community Foundation, where I managed the £3m p.a. grants programme, including the Big Lottery’s Fair Share Trust programme. In 2006 I completed my MSc in Local Economic Development. I have been working as Development Officer for South Lanarkshire Council since May 2006.

Catherine Hughson Catherine Hughson - Shetland Council of Social Service
Catherine Hughson started at the Council for Voluntary Service in Shetland (SCSS) in March 2002, since then the voluntary sector hub Market House has been completed bringing together 17 organisations from Citizens Advice to Pre school play and has been a huge success in the islands and worth the 2.2M investment. Catherine has been involved in the national scene really from the day appointed being on the SCVO Policy Committee, and the N.L.G. She has been involved in the SVA project from the start, and is the voluntary sector representative locally on the Community Planning Partnership and various strategic forums representing the interests of the voluntary sector at a local and national level. Catherine is committed to building capacity, support and encouragement in the sector to meet the challenging and changing environment we all live in.

Eliot is the Manager of the Volunteer Centre in East Lothian and has been since 2001. He brings over twenty years of experience in community & youth work to the SVA Programme. Eliot is the Chair of the Partnership Management Group which strengthens the relationship between Volunteer Development Scotland and the Volunteer Centre network.

Helen is the Chief Executive of GCVS and has worked in the private, public and voluntary sectors including the last 16 years at GCVS where she has grown the organisation substantially. Helen has a strong understanding of the CVS network and devoted a significant amount of time to the SVA programme even before her nomination to the Management Group. She is focussed on maximising the effectiveness of the SVA funds and ensuring they are deployed as widely and fairly as possible.
