why come to scvo

The Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations is the national umbrella body for the voluntary sector in Scotland.  We offer a wide range of services to represent, support and grow the Scottish non-profit distributing sector.

Our involvement in Employment Initiatives

We have been involved, with voluntary sector partners across Scotland, in the delivery of employment initiatives since the introduction of New Deal in 1998.  More than 11,000 unemployed individuals have taken part in our programmes since then.

Our Client Groups

Our clients have been unemployed 6 months and upwards and are aged from 16-50+.  Clients can experience barriers that have prevented them from entering the labour market, ranging from lack of work experience and relevant qualifications, to more severe barriers such as drug or alcohol misuse or criminal records.  We have had significant success in helping the most disadvantaged clients enter the labour market.

What Our Programmes Offer

Our programmes are both work-focused and tailored to the needs of individual clients.  We offer a combination of work experience, job specific training, personal development, basic skills development and career development skills.  Our programmes are designed to meet both the needs of the individual and the needs of employers and the local labour market.
