Future Jobs Fund has been designed to ensure that short-term unemployed young people stay connected with the labour market and do not become the long-term unemployed of the future.
A key element is that the jobs created should provide community benefit and in Scotland there is an expectation that over 1,000 green jobs will be created as well as jobs in social care, childcare, health, energy efficiency, sports, the arts etc.
Funding of around £95m will be available in Scotland and this will fund the costs of employing an individual for 6 months on at least a minimum wage.
SCVO leads a consortium is made up of over 300 third sector employers offering 2,187 socially useful jobs. It has already placed 2075 people into jobs that deliver a host of community benefits including: helping to deliver more services to vulnerable people, increasing recycling, improving waste management, supporting climate change, involving more children in sport and supporting financial inclusion projects
